Core Logging Geologist

Tamarack Geological Services is staffing a contract Core Logging Geologist for an active Idaho drill program.

This is a hands-on field role supporting core logging, sample preparation, QA/QC, core shed operations, and exploration field support on a live drill program.

Location: Idaho

What You’ll Do

• Prepare, move, wash, photograph, and tech drill core for logging
• Conduct geological and geotechnical logging of core and RC chips using acQuire
• Record detailed lithology, alteration, mineralization, and structural observations
• Perform QA/QC insertion, sample preparation, tracking, and assay shipment coordination
• Maintain sample inventory and proper storage procedures
• Oversee core shed organization and assist with pallet movement as needed
• Upload and organize logging data, scanning, digitization, and database records
• Participate in daily communication with geology staff and support field operations
• Follow all mine safety and environmental procedures

What We’re Looking For

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology
• 1–3 years of relevant mining or exploration experience
• MSHA Certification (reimbursed)
• Valid driver’s license
• U.S. citizenship required

Preferred

• acQuire software experience
• Leapfrog familiarity
• Telehandler or forklift experience
• GPS field data collection experience

Geotech/ Junior Geologist

Location: Nationwide
Start: 2026 (Flexible)

What You’ll Do

• Load, wash, photograph, and tech drill core for logging preparation
• Lay out, cut, and package samples while following QA/QC procedures
• Label, store, organize, and transport core and core samples
• Maintain accurate sample and inventory tracking
• Keep the core shed clean, organized, and operating efficiently
• Work alongside mine geologists and support active drill program operations
• Participate in daily communication with the production and geology teams
• Follow all mine safety and environmental procedures

What We’re Looking For

Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Geology
• No prior experience required
• MSHA 24-hour Certification (reimbursed)
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• U.S. citizenship required

Preferred
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
• Interest in mineral exploration and mining geology
• Ability to work in a team-oriented field environment

Drill Manager

Location: Idaho

What You’ll Do

• Oversee daily drill operations for surface exploration programs
•Maintain drillhole database and Leapfrog models for up-to-date tracking of hole position
• Utilize available geologic models to inform TD decisions
• Verify TD goals have been met with close monitoring of geology
• Assist with project coordination, including pad moves, access, and abandonment
• Complete safety and environmental monitoring according to client specifications
• Safely transport drill core to core logging facilities for processing
• Identify and resolve operational issues to minimize downtime and maximize productivity

• 3+ years of relevant mining, exploration, or drilling experience
• MSHA 24-hour Certification (reimbursed)
